Marathon Training- Week 2

Well, another cold week of marathon training is in the books!  I don’t have much new to report.  I ran, I did body pump and ran some more!

But in an effort to remember how this training went down, I’m going to go ahead and recap the week.  I apologize now for the rambling.

Monday- Micah was with the Middle School students on their mission trip, so I couldn’t run early.  I came home from work (where Micah and JM were napping, I might add) and went to the gym.  I did 4 miles on the treadmill.  I tried to mix it up a bit and played with the speeds throughout the run.  It ended up not being too terrible, other than the fact that it was a million degrees in the gym!

Wednesday- I met up with Carrie, Kala and Rosemarie (from here on out, I will refer to them as “the girls”) and we pounded out a 5 mile tempo run.  Our first mile was 10:24 and the next three were right around 9:00, followed by a 9:45 cool down.  I love running with these ladies- it gives me motivation to get out of bed!

Saturday- Long Run day… we had 9 miles on our schedule, and since I had to leave Edmond at 9 to get to Central High, I met Carrie at 6:30 to do a quick 3 before meeting up with the Running Buddies to do their scheduled 6.

Long Run #2: 9 Miles
Average Pace: 9:21

Mile 1:  9:38
Mile 2:  9:21
Mile 3:  9:21
Mile 4:  8:56
Mile 5:  9:18
Mile 6:  9:26
Mile 7:  9:22
Mile 8:  9:31
Mile 9:  9:17

- On Tuesday I did BodyPump (my new obsession!) and on Friday I did 45 minutes on the elliptical plus some serious stretching.  Thursday I planned to do push-ups and abs, but that just never happened!

It was another great week of training.  Here’s to next week!
