a snow day craft

In case you haven't heard, it's snowmageddon outside today.
Last night, Lesley called and said she didn't want to be snowed in at home alone, so she came over.  We went out last night and did a little stocking up of our own at Hobby Lobby.  I mean, if we were going to be stuck inside for the next few days, we might as well have projects to keep us busy.

Here's project #1 of Snowmageddon 2011-
A valentine's day wreath.

This was a fun little project that didn't take long at all.
I started with a styrofoam heart from hobby lobby and some gray yarn.

I spent an hour or so wrapping the yarn around the heart.  This is a good, mindless project to do while watching a movie (or a Say Yes to the Dress marathon, thank you netflix) and chatting with a friend (Sissy Bird).

After you have your heard covered in yarn, start making some felt flowers.
I forgot to take any pics of this process, but it's quite simple.
Step #1- cut a circle.
Step #2- cut the circle into a spiral.
Step #3- roll the spiral until you have a flower.
Step #4- hot glue the end piece to the bottom.
And there you have it- beautiful felt flowers in four easy steps!

Grab some tulle or ribbon, tie a big bow and hang!

A fabulous, simple wreath made on a snowy day!
