I need your help!!
Dilemma #1- My old comforter set got ruined... let's just say it involved a leaky pull-up and a tragedy in the washing machine. Anyway, it died. Inspired by Natalie over at The Pettijohns, I ordered a fluffy white duvet set from overstock.com. Um, how have I missed that place all these years?? It's glorious!
Now- what I need your help with is this- I now have a blank canvas of a room! My furniture is black, my bedding is white- I NEED SOME COLOR!! How should I add some color to my room?
Bear in mind the following things:
- I am poor
- I am fairly boring and bright colors scare me
- I have a 3 year old
tornadoson who thinks it's his job to destroy anything in his path.
SO- the cheaper, calmer, sturdier your suggestions, the better!
Dilemma #2- We're going on vacation next week (WOO-HOOOOO!!) and my all-time favorite vacation activity (besides sleeping) is reading a good book. Last year on our 3 day vacation, I read the entire Chronicles of the King series. Yeah, I read kinda fast... so- I'm looking for an interesting series/author to read through! Please give me some new ideas!
Dilemma #3- Any good road trip needs fabulous road trippin' music! What should we listen to??
Ready, set, GO! Solve my problems! :o)

Hi Stephanie! I am no decorator, so I can't help you there! :) There is a series of books that I have loved reading. It is called the Redemption Series by Karen Kingsbury. There are five books in that series, and then there is another series that follows it with 5 more books. Then there is another series that follows that one! It is Christian fiction about a really neat family. Each book focuses on one member of the family. They are all really good! Where are ya'll going?
redeeming love!! fav!
what about a pale blue or a soft butter yellow. not together, but those both go with black and white ans add a little color without being too bright or too dark...
you could paint one wall. it's the cheapest way to change a room!
I say a dark red or light plum. Just some throw pillows (Hobby Lobby has 50%off sales on their pillows like every other week) and then a cute WallPortrait of the family or 3. maybe 10" square images of you and JM and Micah and JM- and family picture of all 3 of you in the middle. I know adding wall portraits doesn't help the "poor" part- so if you have to settle for getting lots of color coordinating scrapbook paper and tearing them into pieces and then hodgepodging them on a board and framing it, you could do that too- again watch the half off sale on scrapbook paper at HobLob. I recommend the dark colors for the pillows for the tornado :) darker colors are easier to hide stains and dirty fingerprints than lighter colors. Plus, those colors would totally blend well with the beautiful images that Sara took of your family (kind of jealous that she got to do them :))
Not much of a reader, so can't help you there.
Matt and I are fans of shawn mcdonald, amos lee, jack johnson, etc. As well as the college faves "waterdeep, shane(s), charlie hall" My uncle has some fun bluesy songs if you like that. PatCarr on my facebook page.
Steph...Have you read the O'Malley series by Dee Henderson? Seven abandon or orphaned teens adopt each other once they are adults and become a family. Each book is centered around a different sibling and involve mysteries. I have all the books if you want to borrow them. Just let me know...Jenny
